Sclerotherapy is a two-step procedure designed to permanently improve the appearance of blood vessel malformations or so-called spider veins. Depending on the size of the damaged veins, sclerotherapy can be used to treat varicose and spider veins in the hips, thighs, calves and ankle areas.

The treatment is a non-surgical procedure that consists of having an injection with a solution called a Sclerosant. Sclerosant is directly injected into the blood vessels to encourage the skin to remove the internal lining of the vein where your own body will then destroy the vein and it will disappear. The number of veins injected in one session depends on the size and location of the veins and you may need 2 or 3 sessions of treatment to permanently remove. The procedure is relatively pain free. It can cause minor side effects such as bruising and swelling, however there is little to no downtime associated with sclerotherapy; you’ll most likely be able to return to your everyday activities immediately!

Please note: We will not be able to carry out this procedure if you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
